About this Database
Fuente Académica provides access to full text articles in 260 Spanish language scholarly journals from Spain and Latin America. It covers a wide range of topics, ranging from the humanities and social sciences, including history, communication, and architecture to medical and computer science Articles date from 1990, but most start in the 2000s. Searches can be in Spanish or English, and searches will return results in both languages.
Searching the Database
You can search this database in three ways:
- Basic Search: For specific (e.g. author) or more general searches (e.g. architecture in Spain)
- Advanced Search: For more complex searches (e.g. articles on the Falklands War by Alejandro Corbacho)
- Visual Search: For broad topic searches with a visual results map (e.g. communication)
Basic Search
You want to find articles on Argentine or Spanish architecture
- Find box: Enter your search terms in English or Spanish
- You can include BOOLEAN operators to narrow or widen the search
- Use the bottom Refine Search pane to limit your search by date, full text article or a specific title.

*Tip* Click on the ? to the right of the find box for help
Advanced Search
You want to find articles on the Falklands War (also known as the Malvinas, written by Alejandro Corbacho.
- Find box: Enter your English or Spanish search terms in separate boxes
- Alter the BOOLEAN operator boxes to the left of the Find box to narrow or broaden your search.
- Alter the search field to narrow your search (e.g. author)

*Tip* You can search within a specific publication. To find out which publications are covered by the database, click on the publications button on the green menu bar under the Basic or Advanced Search tab
Visual Search
You want to explore the topic of literature
- Find box: Enter your broad search term
- The results pane will show several multicoloured circles. These represent main topics within your search terms. Circles within the big circles represent further sub categories. Squares within the big circles represent articles. Click on the shapes to open them up.
- You can zoom in and out using buttons at the top or bottom of the screen. Zoom in to narrow your search and zoom out to broaden your search.

*Tip* Visual results can be quite slow at times. Be patient!
