ILLiad training. Details to be announced at
a future date.
Follow the Interlibrary Loan Implementation
Task Force activities on the Interlibrary
Loan Study Task Force blog. See links to
the charge, member roster, fact sheet and more
information on task force activities. The Task
Force is charged to evaluate the models described
in the Texas
Resource Sharing Study and to suggest possible
pilot projects.
TSLAC commissioned the
Interlibrary Loan Study conducted by the Bibliographic
Center for Research (BCR) as a follow-up to
the Himmel
and Wilson Study on Public Library Development.
The Interlibrary Loan Study presents six different
models for improving ILL in Texas.
We encourage discussion
and invite feedback from the library community
and invite everyone to comment on the study.
Leave comments in the comment links of the
blog. If you have any questions about submitting
your comments, please send e-mail to sbennett@tsl.state.tx.us
or call 512-463-5406.
BCR conducted extensive
research on ILL best practices, completed an evaluation
of the TexNet Center workflow, surveyed library
patrons and library staff, and analyzed Texas
interlibrary loan statistics to provide a solid
framework for their conclusions and recommendations.
We feel the study was very successful and provides
us with a great deal of useful information for
moving forward.
After the study was released last spring, the
Texas State Library and Archives Commission
brought together individuals from a large and
small public and academic libraries, Texas Group
libraries, the TexNet Centers and Systems members
to serve on the Implementation Task Force. This
group is charged with evaluating the ILL study
and providing a recommendation for pilot projects
and for a final model for interlibrary loan
for the State of Texas. A blog has been developed
to keep everyone up to date with the activities
of the Task Force as well as a way for anyone
to comment on the study or any of the activities
of the Task Force. Please visit the link at
http://www.texshare.edu/newsletter/resourcesharingprojects/
We look forward to your help in planning for
the future of interlibrary loan in Texas.
