About the TexSelect Databases:

TexShare has contracted with vendors to provide a number of specialized databases and journals. TexShare member libraries are eligible to subscribe to these databases at negotiated subscription fees that are usually less than member libraries would pay if they subscribed to these databases daily.

This page lists the TexSelect databases by vendor and provides links for those who wish to read a general description of each database and find the vendor and sales contacts.

Be sure to mention the TexShare name and TexShare consortium when contacting vendors.

American Chemical Society:

TexShare has negotiated access for three (3) ACS electronic products.

1. ACS Web Editions, has access to ACS Publications content from 1996 – present to 36 ACS journals
   2. ACS Legacy Archives, the archive to ACS journals published from 1879 to 1995
   3. Chemical & Engineering News Online, a site license for this one title

All participating consortium members will have access to 36 ACS journal titles. Web Editions subscriptions allows access for the 36 titles beginning in 1996 or the appropriate start date for those titles that do not have a history back to 1996. The 36 titles are:

OCLC FirstSearch Databases:

The OCLC FirstSearch service is a comprehensive reference service with a rich collection of over 60 databases supporting research in a wide range of subject areas. It includes bibliographic and full-text databases in addition to ready-reference tools such as directories, almanacs and encyclopedias. At the heart of FirstSearch is WorldCat®, containing more than 152 million records representing over 1.4 billion holding locations in libraries worldwide. WorldCat adds value to databases in FirstSearch by linking citations to holdings that helps users find these materials in their own libraries and through the WorldCat Resource Sharing service. You can also limit your searches to the collections of your own library or library group.

TexShare subscribes to WorldCat for all participating libraries. Libraries may purchase additional FirstSearch databases on their own. • Some databases are available on a per-search basis and TexShare libraries receive a significant discount below the national price on purchase of block searches
• Subscription databases are available at discounted prices that vary depending on the number of TexShare libraries that subscribe to the various databases
• 60-day no obligation trials are available for most FirstSearch databases. To request database trials please email Debi Lopresti, loprestd@oclc.org
• Libraries wanting a price quote for FirstSearch databases should send their request to Debi Lopresti, loprestd@oclc.org and include the database name(s) along with your institution name and either population served (public libraries) or FTE count (academics). Debi will email requested price quotes back to the library within 48 hours (unless a custom quote is required from the database provider)

TDNet:

• TDNet Management Links Service

TSLAC and TDNet have set up a special discount program on TDNET services exclusively for TexShare members. These discounts are available for the TDNet Management Links Service, which creates and maintains A-Z lists of libraries' e-journals and third party aggregated full text journals online (for example, those in EBSCOhost and GaleGroup databases). TDNet already provides this service under the name "TDNet Journal Locator," which allows Texshare members to browse, search and access all of TexShare's full text databases.

TDNet also offers discounts to TexShare members for other services, including Journal Manager (includes Management links plus TDNet's Tables of Contents Service), and our newest service eBook Manager, which provides A-Z access to your eBook collection, either as a stand-alone interface, or integrated together with Management Links or Journal Manager to support browsing and searching by journals, books, or both.
