Through its licenses with different database providers,
TexShare offers users access to full-text articles from
approximately 17,000 professional, scientific, academic,
and medical journals. But because each of the database
providers has its own proprietary search engine, sometimes
finding a *specific* journal title or topic can be difficult.
TDNet solves the problem by providing a searchable
list of ALL the journal titles available to TexShare
users from all of the different full text database providers.
This list includes the available holdings and an indication
if full-text is available, as well as online coverage
and embargo period information.
Users with an authenticated IP-address can take advantage
of direct hotlinks from the search results page. Others
can simply return to their main TexShare menu page and
click on the specific database that TDNet indicated
that their selected journal can be found.
Hotlinks are functional only for users with an authenticated"
IP address. This includes most academic library workstations
and proxy servers, and many (but not most) public library
computers.
Because of technical limitations, most public library
workstations -- and users accessing TexShare from their
homes -- will be blocked, or prompted for a login and
password. If you click on a link and are prompted for
a login, don't worry. Just make a note of the specific
database where the journal appears (such as EBSCO MasterFile
or Gale Student Resource Center), then return to your
main TexShare menu and click on that specific database.
From there, you'll have full access to the journal title
you've selected.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but believe that
the overall value and convenience of this service for
all of our TexShare users more than makes up the additional
'clicks' required.
Individual Texshare libraries can also purchase their
ownTDNet Journal Locator and other TDNet services (including
eBook Manager and TOUResolver) with a Texshare discount.
Contact TDNet for details.
TSLAC and TDNet have set up a special discount program
exclusively for TexShare members. As part of the agreement
TSLAC negotiated with TDNet, Texshare members are entitled
to substantial discounts on TDNet services. These discounts
are available for the TDNet Management Links Service,
which creates and maintains A-Z lists of libraries'
e-journals and third party aggregated full text journal
online (for example, those in EBSCOhost and GaleGroup
databases). TDNet Management Links is a powerful tool
enabling librarians to "open up" their full
text databases for easy access for users.

Texshare members may also be interested in other TDNet
services such as Journal Manager, which offers the same
Management Links service features provided to Texshare,
plus access to electronic tables of contents of e-journals,
and article level linking from the Main Site A-Z listing.
TDNet also offers an OpenURL link resolver called TOUResolver,
a federated search & analysis tool called Searcher
Analyzer, and a new service for access & management
of ebooks called eBook Manager. TDNet also offers Holdings
Manager, providing MARC records and other data services.
TDNet is offering Main Site at similar discounts to
those for Management Links. Consortia and library systems
will want to investigate the TDNet Consortium Interface,
which allows consortium members to share a TDNet Main
Site or Management Links site, with easy navigation
for users to the e-journal listings of all the member
libraries. Since costs are also shared, this is the
most affordable configuration offered by TDNet.
