Government Documents A selected portion of the Government
Documents collection at the Main Library is available for
check-out. Items with reference labels cannot be circulated.
Up to three documents may be checked-out at a time for three
weeks. Late fees for Government Documents are 15 cents per
day with a maximum fine of $7.50 for a lost or un-returned
item. 3 weeks

A selected portion of English magazines can be check-out
at the Branches for one week.
* The maximum number of items that can be checked out to
one card is 49. Within this number, the previous category
limits apply. When the checkout computer is down, only five
items may be
checked out to a card. You must have your library card with
you.
** First three numbers on spine label indicate the subject.
*** All materials borrowed from the Bookmobile have a loan
period of 2 weeks.
The responsibilities of a Library card holder
You are legally responsible for all library materials borrowed
on your card, whether the items were borrowed with or without
your permission. Parents and legal guardians are responsible
for materials borrowed on their children's cards. You must
report any change of name, address, or loss of card to the
Library immediately. Patrons owing $5 or more in fines will
be blocked from checking out any more materials until payment
is arranged. If you damage the materials The El Paso Public
Library will charge a fee of $2.50 per item for materials
that show damage when returned. If an item is damaged beyond
use, there will be a $5 processing fee plus replacement
costs. If you lose an Item For each item there well be a
$5 processing fee plus a replacement cost based on the actual
cost to replace the lost material. When the actual price
is not available, the followings schedule applies:

ELIGIBILITY: Check it out Apply at any branch location! It's
easy to get a Library Card If you're a resident of the City
of El Paso, and:
* can show an identification card with your picture, your
name and address, and
* complete a library card application; Or, if you don't
have picture identification, then you must
* show two types of identification with name and address,
and
* complete a library card application.
* Your library card is free.
Military personnel and their dependents may show some type
of military I.D. for name and address verification purposes.
If you are not a resident of the City of El Paso, you can
get a card if you:
* pay a yearly $15 fee, and
* fulfill above requirements. (As per city ordinance # 12141)
If you are under 14 years of age your parent or legal guardian
must sign the library card application. Library cards are
good for two years and fee cards are good for one year.
If you loss your library card it will cost you $2 for Adult
and $1 for children to replace it.

RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: The renewal may be made at any location,
but not over the phone. Books, Audio and Video materials may
be renewed twice(if there's no waiting list)
RETURNS: Returning Library materials You must return all
library materials by the last date stamped on the Date Due
Slip. All materials may be returned to the Main Library, any
Library branch, or to the Bookmobile regardless of where they

BILLING: We currently don't bill. All payments are to be
made at the circulation desk at any branch.
ADDITIONAL: If you can't pay the fine If you are unable to
pay fines immediately, arrangements may be made for a reasonable
payment plan. Any new fine accrued before the payment plan
is fulfilled will void the arrangement and fines will have
to be paid in full immediately. If the patron refuses to pay
a fine, borrowing privileges will be canceled.
