LIMITATIONS: An eligible patron may check out two items for
three weeks with one renewal. Additional items may be checked
out once prior items are returned and any late fees paid in
full. TexShare patrons may not check out any videos, magazines
or non-circulating items.
ELIGIBILITY: For Ferris Public Library members: An eligible
patron must be a member of the Ferris Public Library for a
minimum of three months and be in good standing (i.e., no
outstanding late fees). A card may be revoked if an eligible
patron does not pay any fine assessed either by the Ferris
Public Library or a participating TexShare library. Application
for a TexShare card is made at the front desk and is valid
for a period as follows: FPL Member for 3 months: Valid for
3 months. FPL Member for 3 to 6 months: Valid for 6 months.
FPL Member for 6 months or more: Valid for 12 months.
For TexShare Borrowers: An eligible patron may apply for
TexShare borrowing privileges at the front desk. A Texas Drivers
license or other photo ID is required in conjunction with
the TexShare card from their home library. CARD AVAILABILITY:
Borrowing privileges are granted and cards issued to TexShare
borrowers during the regular hours of operation of the library.
HOURS: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.; Thursday - 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (10:00 a.m. to 6:00
p.m. - Summer)
The library is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday and all
holidays taken by the City of Ferris.
RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: Items checked out by eligible TexShare
borrowers can be renewed one time. Renewal may be made in
person, by phone or by e-mail.
RETURNS: Items may be returned in person to the front desk
when the library is open. Items may be returned in the Book
Return when the library is closed.
MAIL RETURN:
Returns made by U.S. Mail may be sent to: Ferris
Public Library, 514 S. Mabel Street, Ferris, Texas 75125
OVERDUES: Overdue reminders will be made first by phone to
borrowers with local phone numbers, and any additional reminder
needed will be made by mail. For borrowers with long distance
phone numbers, overdue reminders will be made by mail. For
borrowers who request it, overdue reminders can be made by
e-mail
RECALLS: It is not the general policy of the Ferris Public
Library to recall items needed by another patron. However,
if an item is requested by another patron which has been borrowed
by a TexShare borrower and that item is late, the Ferris Public
Library will advise the TexShare borrower to return the item
immediately and late fees will be doubled after three business
days from that notice.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Encyclopedias, reference materials,
and genealogy collection (located at museum).
LOAN POLICIES: An eligible TexShare patron
may check out two items for three weeks with one renewal.
FINES: Fines for overdue items accrue at the rate of $.25
per day, including days the library is closed. For books which
are damaged but are reparable, there will be a fine of $5.00.
For books damaged beyond repair, the fine will be the cost
of the book.
LOST ITEMS:
If a TexShare borrower claims that an item they
have borrowed has been lost, there will be a charge of the
cost of the book.
BILLING: Any fees assessed are due immediately and payable
at the library. Borrowing privileges will be suspended until
all finds are paid.
ADDITIONAL: This policy will be posted on the librarys
website.
