RESTRICTIONS/LIMITATIONS: For the
first 90 days after receiving a library card, adults
may check out 3 items (including 1 video), children
(ages 6-17) may check out 3 items, and babies (ages
5 and under) may check out one Easy book at a time.
After 90 days, adults may check out 10 items (including
a maximum of 3 videos), and children may check out 10
items. Babies are limited to one Easy book until their
6th birthday. Children and babies may not check out
videos of any type. Library patrons may only check-out
a maximum of 5 best-sellers at a time due to their popularity
and limited number of copies available.
Patrons with fines or overdue books may not check out
additional materials.
ELIGIBILITY: To check out library
materials, an individual must present a Marshall Public
Library card. To obtain a library card, a valid Texas
driver's license or Texas state ID must be presented.
Individuals with temporary Texas driver's license or
temporary Texas state ID must also present photo identification.
The first library card is free; thereafter, replacement
cards are $5.00.
HOURS OF OPERATION: The Marshall Public
Library is open 10:00-8:00 Monday-Thursday and 10:00-5:30
Friday and Saturday.
RENEWALS: All items (except for best-sellers)
may be renewed by phone, at the circulation desk, or
online via the library's website (PIN required) for
an additional two weeks.
RETURNS: Materials may be returned
during library hours at the circulation desk or placed
in the bookdrop located at the back of the building
(east side).

OVERDUE REMINDERS: Individuals with
overdue materials will receive a phone call reminding
them of their overdue materials. Notices may also be
sent by mail.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Reference material
is for in-house use only.
LOAN POLICIES: All library materials
circulate for two weeks and are eligible for renewal
unless the item is a best-seller or the renewal limit
has been reached.
FINES AND FEES: Overdue library materials,
except for videos and DVDs, are charged a late fee of
15 cents per day up to a maximum of $5.00. Overdue videos
and DVDs are assessed a $2.00 per day late fee up to
a maximum of $10.00. All fines must be paid before additional
materials can be checked out.
LOST ITEMS: When library material(s)
is lost, the library patron is responsible for the replacement
price of the item(s) plus a processing fee for each
item. If a lost item is overdue at the time, the overdue
fine is not charged. The replacement price is listed
in the library's database. Items without a replacement
price noted will be assessed the default replacement
price. Some materials such as cassettes and CDs may
be charge additional fees to cover shipping and handling.
Once the material(s) is claimed lost and replacement
fees are charged, the Marshall Public Library cannot
accept the material(s) or give a refund if the material
is later found. |
