LIMITATIONS: The following materials
may be checked out: 4 books, 2 talking books, 4 magazines,
1 videocassette, 1 book-cassette kit, 1 DVD and 2 music
CDs. One renewal is allowed if there are no reserves
on an item. Must be 18 years old or older to check out
videos. Privileges are suspended when fines and/or overdue
charges exceed $5.00
ELIGIBILITY: A current (unexpired)
TexShare Card and a photo ID (preferably a Texas driver's
license or TDPS ID card) are required. Apply at the
Circulation Desk. CARD AVAILABILITY: TexShare Card holders
may apply for privileges during all hours of operation.
HOURS: The Library is open 10 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Monday - Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday;
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
on Sunday. We are closed on Sunday during June, July
and August. Holiday closings include: New Year's Day,
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day
after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and a "floating
holiday"assigned by City Council which is usually
in conjunction with Christmas. Holiday closings may
include the weekends associated with them. Check our

RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: TexShare Card
renewals may be made by phone, e-mail, in person, or
via the on-line catalog. Borrowers are still responsible
for fines accrued if the item has a reserve and is not
returned by the due date.
RETURNS: All materials may be returned:
a) in person at the Circulation Desk; b) in the after
hours book drop; or c) by first class mail (certified
in order to be traceable).

EXPRESS MAIL: Same as for U. S. Mail
OVERDUES: Overdue notices will be
mailed about 2 weeks after the due date. A second notice/bill
will be mailed about 4 weeks after the due date. About
6 weeks after the due date the item is considered lost
and an overdue notice/bill will be sent to the patron's
home library. E-mail may be used to supplement the mailed
notices if an e-mail address is provided at time of
registration.
RECALLS: There are no special recalls.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Non-circulating
materials include Reference, Genealogy, Port Arthur
History & Archives, Microform collections, bound
magazines, and the current issue of all periodicals
(which means until we receive the next issue).
LOAN POLICIES: All circulating materials
will be checked out for 14 days except videos which
are checked out for 4 days.
FINES: Fines are 10 cents per day,
except for videos and DVDs which are $1 per day.
LOST ITEMS: An item is considered
"lost"2 weeks after the final overdue notice/bill
is mailed. This is usually about 6 weeks after the due
date.
BILLING: Return of materials or payment
(replacement cost plus a $5 processing fee) is required
within two weeks of date final notice is mailed. A bill
will then be sent to the patron's home library. After
an additional 2 weeks without payment the information
will be turned over to municipal court for collection.
