LIMITATIONS: TexShare cardholders may borrow
up to two items at a time. TexShare cardholders are
not eligible to check out audiovisual equipment or to
use the San Marcos Public Library’s interlibrary
loan services.
ELIGIBILITY:In order to obtain a TexShare card from the San
Marcos Public Library, patrons must be sixteen years or older,
be eligible for free library services as authorized by the
San Marcos City Council, be a registered cardholder for at
least two months and must also be in good standing without
overdue items, fines or fees. Children under the age of sixteen,
may obtain a card with written permission from their parent/guardian.
Visiting TexShare card holders may apply for borrowing privileges
at the San Marcos Public Library by presenting a valid TexShare
Card, providing an acceptable form of address verification
such as a current Texas driver's license, official D.P.S.
identification card or a student ID with address and filling
out a written application. HOURS:

Wednesday: 10AM - 9PM
Thursday: 10AM - 9PM
Friday: 10AM - 6PM
Saturday: 10AM - 5PM
Sunday: 1PM - 6PM

CARD AVAILABILITY : San Marcos Public Library cardholders may
request a TexShare card at the Reference Desk during regular
library hours. Visiting TexShare cardholders may apply for
a library card at the Circulation Desk during regular library
hours. There is a $1.00 fee for lost, stolen or damaged cards.
RENEWAL OF MATERIALS : Items may be renewed in person, by telephone
or on the library website: www.ci.san-marcos.tx.us/library.htm
. Renewals are usually for one week and there is a limit of
two renewals. You cannot renew items that are on hold for
another customer.
RETURNS: Borrowers are responsible for
returning materials directly to the San Marcos Public Library,
either to the inside or outside book drops.
MAIL RETURNS: Mail the items first class

OVERDUES: Overdue notices are provided as a courtesy. Borrowers
are responsible for all overdue fines. Standard library procedures
will be followed to recover any materials lost by TexShare
borrowers. Should these fail, the "home" library of the TexShare
patron will be billed for the materials.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS:
Audiovisual equipment, newspapers,
reference books current magazines, and local history materials.
LOAN POLICIES: A complete copy of our policies
are located at the Circulation Desk. In general, books and
audiotapes are checked out for 3 weeks at a time and may be
renewed twice for an additional week. Videos, older magazines
and bestsellers may be checked out for one week at a time
and may be renewed twice for an additional 3 days.
FINES: Fines for children's books are 10
cents per day per item. Fines for other materials are 20 cents
per day per item.
LOST ITEMS:
Items are declared to be lost when they are 60
days overdue. Borrowers with lost items will be charged with
replacement costs plus a $5.00 per item processing fee.
BILLING: Bills are payable upon receipt and may be paid at
the Circulation Desk or by mail. Failure to pay fines or fees
will result in loss of borrowing privileges. Checks should
be made payable to the San Marcos Public Library and mailed
