LIMITATIONS: TexShare cardholders may not borrow reference materials or local history/genealogy materials nor may they request interlibrary loans. Borrowing privileges are blocked when a cardholder has overdue materials, accrues over $5.00 in fines and/or is billed (in any amount) for lost or damaged materials. All other circulation policies are identical to policies for local cardholders.

ELIGIBILITY: To obtain a TexShare card from the Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library, customers must be sixteen years or older, a registered Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library cardholder for at least 3 months and must be in good standing without any overdue items, fines or fees. TexShare borrowers must have a valid TexShare card, current photo I.D. (such as a Texas driver’s license/ identification card or military ID) and if the borrower’s address is different from the address on the their photo ID, documentation in the borrower’s name showing a permanent physical address. Post office boxes will not be accepted as proof of residency. TexShare borrowers under the age of sixteen must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign as the responsible party. The parent will be required to show valid identification; however, the TexShare card must have been issued in the child’s name. TexShare borrowers meeting these requirements will be issued a Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library card with the same expiration date shown on the TexShare card.

CARD AVAILABILITY: Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library cardholders may request a TexShare card at the Information Desk during regular library hours. Visiting TexShare cardholders may apply for library card at the Information Desk during regular library hours.

Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday Closed
The library is closed on all City of Seguin holidays. For holiday closings please refer to the library webpage at www.seguin.lib.tx.us. Service hours are subject to change.

RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: Materials may be renewed by in person, by phone or using the online catalog found at www.seguin.lib.tx.us. Customers must provide their library card number if renewing by phone. Materials may be renewed 1 time. The renewal period for books and books on tape is 14 days and videos and DVDs 3 days. Items on hold for another customer may not be renewed.

RETURNS: Borrowers are responsible for returning materials directly to the Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library. Books may be returned at the Circulation Desk, outside book drop, or by mail. Materials returned by mail must be received postage paid on or before the due date of all materials mailed. Media materials such as videos, DVDs and books on tape must be returned inside the library.

OVERDUES: Overdue reminders are provided as a courtesy and it is the borrower’s responsibility to return items on or before the designated due date. Borrowers are responsible for all overdue fines whether an overdue notice is received or not. Overdue notices are mailed to the address on the cardholder’s account.

NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Reference materials, local history/genealogy, microfilm and periodicals do not circulate.

LOAN POLICIES: The check out period for books and books on tape is 14 days and for videos and DVDs 3 days. Books and books on tape may be renewed 1 time for an additional 14 days. Videos and DVDs may be renewed 1 time for an additional 3 days. Items on hold for another customer may not be renewed.

FINES: The overdue fine for juvenile and easy books is $.05 per day per item with a maximum of $.50 per item. Overdue fines for all other materials are $.10 per day per item with a maximum of $1.00 per item. Customer’s returning materials damaged will be charged the current replacement cost of the items plus a processing fee for each item. The processing fee for paperbacks is $2.00 and for all other materials $5.00.

LOST ITEMS: Items are declared lost when they are overdue 6 months. Customers with lost materials are billed the current replacement cost plus and processing fee for each item. The processing fee for paperbacks is $2.00 and for all other materials $5.00. Standard library procedures will be followed to recover materials lost by TexShare borrowers; however, if these fail, the “home” library of the TexShare customer will be billed for the materials.

BILLING: Bills for fines, damaged materials and lost materials are due upon receipt. Payments may be made in person or by mail. Failure to pay outstanding fines and fees will result in the immediate loss of borrowing privileges. Checks should be made payable to the City of Seguin and mailed to the Seguin-Guadalupe County Public Library 707 E. College St. Seguin, TX. 78155.
