LIMITATIONS:
Borrowing privileges as described here are good at the
Fondren Library Center and the Hamon Arts Library. Privileges
do not extend to Interlibrary Loan, reserves, special
collections, or other restricted materials. No circulation
to borrowers with overdue books or unpaid fines. For
specific limitations according to borrowers' classifications,
see "Loan Policies" (below).
ELIGIBILITY:
Academic borrowers must present a current college or university
ID card, a valid Texas driver's license or Texas identification
card, and a TexShare card. Graduate students, faculty members
and staff must be so identified. Public borrowers must present
a valid Texas driver's license or Texas identification card
in addition to their TexShare card.
CARD AVAILABILITY:
Hours to obtain a card:
M-Th: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
F: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Sat: 9:00 am- 12:00 pm; 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sun: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm; 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Faculty/Staff cards are good through the following August.
All other cards are due through the current semester.

Fondren Library Center hours for the public:
M-F: 8:00 am - 10:00 pm
Sat: 9:00 am - 10:00 pm
Sun: 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Hours vary during summer, interterms, and holidays. During
main terms, longer hours are available for SMU students, faculty,
and staff.
RENEWAL OF MATERIALS:
Renewals are in person. Only faculty/staff and graduate students
may renew books. Renewals are limited to one per item, and
only if no other patron is requesting the item.
RETURNS:
Returns should be made directly to the relevant library.

OVERDUES: Borrowers are responsible for
the timely return of materials. The Circulation Department
sends overdue notices as a courtesy after intervals of
7 and 14 days and accepts no responsibility for late or
undelivered notices.
RECALLS: There are no recalls.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS:
Reference materials, periodicals, special collections, reserve
items, microforms, maps, and other restricted or non-circulating
materials.
LOANS: Public and Undergraduate TexShare cardholders
are allowed 1 book for 3 days with no renewals. Graduate TexShare
cardholders are allowed 5 books for 3 weeks with one renewal.
Faculty/Staff TexShare cardholders are allowed 10 books for
3 weeks with one renewal.
FINES: The fine rate is $1.00 per day. The fine for
damaged materials may be as much as full replacement cost
plus processing fee (see below).
LOST ITEMS:
Materials are considered lost after they
are 30 days overdue. Charges are $50 for a book plus a $25
processing fee plus any accrued fines. The basic book charge
may exceed $50 when the book is worth more than $50.
BILLING: Bills may be paid at the appropriate library's
Circulation Desk.
