RESTRICTIONS/LIMITATIONS:
Items circulate for 14 days, with one renewal. One may
borrow up to five items at a time. Privileges will be
suspended for unpaid bills or overdue items, and some
collection do have special circulation regulations.
ELIGIBILITY: TexShare users with a
valid card simply must approach the Circulation Desk
at any of the STC Libraries and present their valid
TexShare card along with a photo ID. The will be allowed
to use the STC library while their cad is still valid.
CHECK-OUT CARD AVAILABILITY: Checkout
hours do not differ from regular operating hours. Privileges
must be renewed after a users TexShare card has expired.
HOURS OF OPERATION: Hours vary from
campus to campus and according to time of year.
RENEWALS: One renewal is permitted
in person or through the online catalog.
RETURNS: Patrons must return items
at any of the library's circulation desks.
RETURNS BY U.S. MAIL: STC does not
encourage returns by mail.
UPS EXPRESS MAIL: STC does not encourage
returns by mail.
OVERDUE REMINDERS: Overdue notices
are sent 5 days after an item is overdue.
RECALLS: Notification of recall is
made by phone. Borrowers are given 2 days to return
the material and fines will be incurred at the rate
of a dollar a day, but will not exceed 25 dollars.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Reference items,
some AV items, and reserve materials do not circulate.
LOAN POLICIES: Books circulate for
2 weeks, AV items circulate for 5 days, and non-current
periodicals circulate for 3 days.
FINES AND FEES: For most items an
overdue charge of $0.10 will be assessed for each item
each day the item's home library is open, calculated
from the due date. An overdue charge of $0.10 will be
assessed for each reserve item each hour the item's
home library is open, calculated from the time the item
is due. There is a maximum fine limit of $25.00 on each
item. When a item is recalled, the fine increases to
a dollar per day.
Borrowers will be charged a $15.00 fee for each badly
damaged item needing repairs. A librarian or full-time
library staff member will determine the extent of an
item's damage. Damage can include, but is not limited
to, water damage, stains, tears, writing or highlighting,
burns, missing pages, broken spine, or scratches.
LOST ITEMS: Library Services will
charge borrowers for lost items or materials damaged
beyond repair. Borrowers may either provide the library
with a replacement copy of a lost item or pay for a
replacement copy. Borrowers will be charged an additional
$30.00 processing fee for each item lost or damaged
beyond repair. If the lost or damaged item was donated
to the library, borrowers will not be charged a replacement
fee, only the $30.00 processing fee.
BILLING INFORMATION: Bills are due
upon the next visit to the library after a fine has
been incurred. Payments can be made at any of the libraries'
circulation desk. Failure to pay a fine will result
in suspension of privileges.
