LIMITATIONS: TexShare card holders are allowed
general circulation privileges in the Evans Library, the West
Campus Library, and the Policy Sciences and Economics Library.
The Medical Sciences Library is separate and has its own TexShare
policy. Up to five items may be checked out. Most non-circulating
items may be used in the library. TexShare card holders may
use Cushing Library and Learning Resource Department materials
in those departments, as well as stand-alone and networked
CD-ROM products in the various reference areas. In-library
access to FirstSearch, WorldCat and Wilson online databases
is available. Certain CD-ROM and online reference services
under license or contract restrictions will not be available
to TexShare users. Interlibrary Loan is restricted to faculty,
students, and staff of Texas A&M University, College Station.
ELIGIBILITY: Texas A&M honors valid
TexShare Library Cards issued by participating libraries.
Both initial application for library privileges and renewal
of library privileges previously granted under TexShare or
other lending agreements must be made in person. Application
and renewal are not accepted by mail or phone. Faculty, staff,
and students need to present a TexShare Library Card to Circulation
personnel in the Evans Library or one of the two branches
and complete a Courtesy Card Application. Additional identification
requested will include a valid faculty/student I.D. from the
home institution, as well as another picture I.D. such as
a driver's license. The Courtesy Card must be presented to
check out material; the TexShare Library Card cannot be used
by itself to check items.
CARD AVAILABILITY:
See Circulation Desk Hours on the Circulation Web page:
University Libraries
Web Site
Cards for students expire at the end of the semester in which
they were issued (December 15, May 15, or August 15). Faculty
and staff cards are valid for a period not to exceed the expiration
date on the TexShare Card, and not to exceed the next August
31. Students may renew borrowing privileges for the next semester
by presenting a valid student I.D., a second photo I.D., and
a new TexShare card issued by the home institution beginning
two weeks before the first day of classes at Texas A&M,
College Station. Faculty and staff who have a new TexShare
card good for the next academic year may begin to renew their
privileges beginning August 15. Faculty will also need a valid
faculty/staff I.D. and a second photo I.D. A courtesy borrower's
card may only be used by the person to whom it is issued.
For the borrower's protection, library staff will always ask
to see a photo I.D. before checking out material to the bearer
of courtesy card.
HOURS: To determine library
hours, check the University
Libraries Web Site
RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: Items may be
renewed once on or before the due date by bringing them to
the appropriate service desk or by using the renewal form
on each library's Web page. Overdue items may not be renewed.
Books requested by other library users may not be renewed.
RETURNS: TexShare borrowers are responsible
for returning materials they have borrowed by the date due.
These materials must be returned either in person or by first-class,
insured public or private carrier. Items must be packaged
so they cannot be damaged during the mailing process. The
borrowers' responsibility ends when the materials are checked
in at the circulation desk from which they were originally
checked out. Return receipts are issued upon request for items
returned in person. Late fees will be assessed for material
received after the due date.

OVERDUES: The Borrower
is responsible for the timely return of materials. The
Library sends overdue notices as a courtesy and accepts
no responsibility for the late or non-delivery of a
notice.
RECALLS: All items are subject to recall.
If an item is recalled, the recall due date on the notice
replaces the original due date. Borrower's will be notified
by First Class mail.
NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Items which do not
circulate: include periodicals, reference books, audio-visual
materials, computer software, materials from the Cushing Library
(archives and special collections), all types of equipment,
and materials stamped "Not to be taken from the Library."
LOANS: TexShare borrowers may check out
a total of five items for a two-week loan period.
FINES:
1. Twenty-five cents per day for
overdue items, with a maximum fine of $10 per item. There
is a fourteen day grace period, but if the item is not returned
by the 15th day, the fine is retroactive to first day item
was overdue.
2. $1.00 per day for non-returned recalled books.
3. $1.80 per hour for non-returned reserves material with
a loan period of 24 hours or less.
4. $3.00 per day for reserve material with a loan period
of 3 or 7 days.
LOST ITEMS: The charge for lost items
includes: (1) the fine accumulated until the book is paid
for if it is overdue, (2) the replacement price for the book,
and (3) a $10 processing fee. For damaged materials, fines
will be assessed according to the type of damage. The maximum
charge for a damaged book will be the book price and a $10
processing fee.
BILLING: Payment is due upon billing. Texas
A&M borrowing privileges will be suspended for the following
reasons: (1) materials are overdue 30 days or more; (2) a
recalled book has not been returned; (3) library notices are
returned undeliverable because of an incorrect address; and
(4) a bill or fine has not been paid. The home library will
be notified and asked to suspend privileges at that library
as well until the charges due Texas A&M are paid.
