LIMITATIONS: Patrons can check out up to five items. They will not have access to remote databases, or ILL services. The card issued will be for a three month period. Checkout is not permitted if there are any overdue items or fines.

ELIGIBILITY: Patron must present a current TexShare card with valid photo ID and proof of current address. Patron will then be required to fill out a Victoria Public Library card application. Patrons under the age of 18 will need to have parent/guardian signature.

CARD AVAILABILITY: Cards will be issued all the hours that the library is open. See the VPL website for library hours. The library card issued by VPL will be for a three month period, but can be renewed if necessary.

HOURS: See the VPL website for library hours, including holidays.

RENEWAL OF MATERIALS: Victoria Public Library allows one renewal on items that do not have holds on them. If an items has fines, it cannot be renewed. Once the fine is paid, the item can be checked out again if there are no holds.

RETURNS: Book materials can be returned to the library, either in the outside drop at any time, or inside the library during library hours. Additionally, there are book drops available 24 hours a day at the Town Plaza Shopping Mall (Laurent and Airline), and the Victoria Mall. Audiovisual materials should NOT be placed in the book drops, but returned directly, and inside, the library.

EXPRESSMAIL: Same

OVERDUES: VPL notifies patrons via telephone about their overdues. If telephone notification is not successful the patron is notified by mail.

RECALLS: Victoria Public Library does not recall library material.

NON-CIRCULATING ITEMS: Library material that does not circulate are: All reference materials, Local History collections, and items in the closed stacks.

LOAN POLICIES: The loan period for all VPL materials is three weeks.

FINES: Patrons are charged $0.10 per day for overdues. When an item is lost, the patron is responsible for the replacement cost of the item, a processing fee and overdue fines up to but not exceeding one-half the cost of the item. If a library item is damaged, the patron is responsible for the cost of the item, a processing fee, and, if overdue, fines up to but not exceeding half the cost of the item.

LOST ITEMS: The library charges the cost of the item, a processing fee of $4.00, and an overdue fine equaling one-half the cost of the item.

BILLING: Overdues are expected to be paid promptly by the patrons. Checkout is not allowed to patrons that owe library fines or fees. Privileges are restored once fines and fees are paid.
