TexShare Interlibrary Loan Protocol Working Group
3rd Annual Interlibrary Loan Workshop
November 19, 1999 - Dallas, TX
 

WHO: Interlibrary Loan enthusiasts--the most giving, sharing people we know come together for an Interlibrary Loan saturation day of nationally known speakers, local favorites, interaction with other ILL addicts, good food, and a day when ILL service around the state is left in the hands of student assistants and others.

WHAT: Speakers and topics will include--

  • Mary Jackson Senior Program Officer for Access Services, Association of Research Libraries, "Yes, It's Possible (To Manage a Paperless ILL Operation)!

  • Georgia Harper Head, Intellectual Property Section, Office of General Counsel, University of Texas System "Coypright for ILL Before and After the New Millenium."

  • Kathleen Smalldon Document Delivery Librarian, Document Delivery Services, Cline Library, Northern Arizona University "Distance Education and the Role of ILL.

  • Heather Perkins Assistant Manager, Document Delivery Services, UT Southwestern Medical Center Library "Expectations vs. the Technology Gap".

Presentation of the TexShare ILL Office of the year award

The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from Love Field, which you can request by calling 214/634-8850 from the airport. The workshop is booked under "Amigos Library Services," so if you're staying overnight in the hotel, please contact the reservations desk at 214/634-8850 and tell the clerk that you will be attending the Amigos event of November 19th and are requesting a room at the state rate of $70.

The hotel is providing us with an unlimited number of rooms at $70, BUT YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR ROOM BY NOVEMBER 5TH TO BE GUARANTEED THE STATE RATE. After November 5th, which is two weeks from the event, room rates will revert to the hotel's regular price of $119-$139, depending on capacity.

WHY:

To stay over an extra day for Christmas shopping at Neiman's? To get out of town for a day before your fellow office workers drive you insane? To enjoy the rich fellowship, creative stimulation, and depth of knowledge that only time spent with your ILL colleagues can bring

HOW:

We are limited to 150 registrants at no charge. Consequently, we are limiting free registrations to three per library. However, a library may bring more than three staff members--the registration charge for additional people will be $30.00 each. If we don't reach registration of 150, we will convert some of the $30.00 registrants to no-charge. Please indicate how many persons beyond three will come if we can register them without charge.

Non-TexShare members are welcome to attend the workshop; however, there will be a $50.00 rgistration fee.

Do not send any registration fees. Fees will be collected during workshop registration. You may bring cash or write a check made out to Amigos Library Services. Receipts will be provided.
