ILL WORKING GROUP
INTERLIBRARY LOAN WORKSHOP

Announcement/Invitation
5th Interlibrary Loan Workshop
November 22, 2002 Dallas, Texas

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be"-NOT!

is the unofficial motto of the 5th TexShare Interlibrary Loan Workshop, Friday, November 22, 2002. Join your colleagues in Dallas at the Embassy Suites near Love Field for a day of Interlibrary Loan madness.

Florence Mason, a featured speaker, is a library consultant and owner of F. Mason and Associates. Dr. Mason is adjunct faculty at the University of North Texas School of Library and Information Science and is currently conducting a statewide technology assessment survey for the Texas Infrastructure Fund Board on the needs for future technology and technology skills in Texas Public, academic, and school libraries. She is widely published and has made many presentations to library groups, including Interlibrary Loansters.

One goal of the workshop will be to learn what other library consortia are doing. What can TexShare learn from them? What is the future of such agreements? Who will win the ILL Consortial Smackdown between TexShare, OhioLINK, and Minitex? To that end we will have as speakers Anita Cook, Director of Library Systems for OhioLINK and Bill DeJohn, Director, MINITEX Library Information Network. On the local front, Jeff Steely and Ken Carriveau will tell us about many innovative ILL developments at Baylor.

Door prizes. Lunch with your colleagues. A chance to do some Christmas shopping at Neiman's.

Mark your calendars for Friday, November 22, 2002.

ANSWERS TO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS WE'VE RECEIVED

--The workshop is not restricted to TexShare members or Texas libraries. Ya'll come.

--Only a little of the workshop's time is devoted to TexShare issues. Most of the speakers are national figures who will be addressing topics of interest to all of us involved in ILL.

--The weather in Dallas on November 22 should be nice. Not too cold, not anything like the heat of the summer.
